Last week’s Ang Pinaka in QTV listed the most searched Filipino celebrities in the Internet according to Google Zeitgeist this 2008. While we can’t trace the list they based this episode data on, here are the curious 10 of chart-topping fame according to Mr. Clean Rovilson Fernandez.

10. Dingdong Dantes - This is rather predictable given his Marimar fame and numerous naked pictorials. Hell, he even landed as 3rd sexiest man in the world in the E! ranking. People also had to search him up more after his break-up with long-time girlfriend Karylle. That’s his ass in Cosmopolitan’s 69 Hottest Bachelors the other year.

9. Riza Santos - Flaming in the Pinoy Big Brother house, in magazine pictorials, and even in real life? Riza Santos just got involved with so much controversies. Her lateness, supposed unprofessionalism and diva-ness always sparked things up.

8. Marian Rivera - A major breakout actress starting with Marimar, she was also crowned as FHM’s sexiest and was revealed to be not-so-friendly in an online video. Later during the year, she was even intrigued to be the cause of Dingdong Dantes’ break-up with Karylle.

7. Charice - Certified YouTube star Charice Pempengco didn’t only get millions of hits in the phenomenal video-sharing site but also ended up in the hands of Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, and the big-time music producer David Foster. Next thing we know, she’s already performing with every major singer including Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.

6. Criselda Volks - It’s been a while since she starred in Nagmumurang Kamatis (1997), Init (1998), and Alyas Bomba Queen (2002), but people were quick to recognize her in a sex scandal video that leaked to the Internet. Volks admitted that it was her, and that probably made people more curious and, in some way, sympathetic.

5. Marky Cielo - Frequently compared to the death of Rico Yan in 2002, people were definitely shocked with the Starstruck finalist’s passing. Like in Yan’s case, there were also many speculations on the cause of his death while it was announced to be plain bangungot–much reason to Google his name.

4. Rudy Fernandez - It was a rather expected death by cancer, but people still had to keep themselves updated with what else is there to talk about in grief. There was absolute credit in his many years making action movies.

3. Richard Poon - Who knew a revival singer could be more popular than naked and dead celebrities? (Heck, even my Mom has an autographed copy of his album. -Ed) He didn’t even join those singing contests, but he just landed so graciously on the Michael Buble spot. Guess we can never do without young crooners.

2. RR Enriquez - Also appearing as a ditzy dancer in Wowowee, RR became more popular than Rudy Fernandez because of topless calendar photos which she claims were manipulated. She posed for the men’s glossies anyway, and she looks gorgeous, so her online fame’s sort of understandable.

1. Arnel Pineda - He only filled the shoes of the legendary Journey vocalist, but he did it so well that he gained wide attention. Filipinos were not the only ones Googling him. There were the loyal band fans who still bought their new album to platinum sales.
